Consider whether the role supports your career and whether the location suits your household\u2019s housing, transport and family needs.<\/p><h2><b>Which Communities Participate in the Rural Community Immigration Pilot?<\/b><\/h2><p>IRCC lists 14 participating communities across six provinces:<\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Nova Scotia: Pictou County.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Ontario: North Bay, Sudbury, Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Manitoba: Steinbach, Altona\/Rhineland and Brandon.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Saskatchewan: Moose Jaw.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Alberta: Claresholm.<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">British Columbia: West Kootenay, North Okanagan Shuswap and Peace Liard.<\/li><\/ul><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Each community publishes its own information about designated employers and eligible opportunities. Check its current priorities and intake arrangements rather than assuming every job in the area qualifies.<\/p><h2><b>What Job Offer Does the Rural Community Immigration Pilot Require?<\/b><\/h2><p>You need an offer from an employer designated by the participating community. The employment must be full time, with at least 30 paid hours per week, year round and without a fixed end date. The job must be located within the community\u2019s boundaries.<\/p><p>The broader<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadagmc.com\/do-you-need-job-offer-to-move-to-canada\/\"> <b>job offer requirements<\/b><\/a> vary between Canadian immigration pathways. For RCIP, employer designation and the community\u2019s priority occupations are central checks.<\/p><p>After securing a valid offer, your employer submits your recommendation application to the community. The community checks the offer and your eligibility before deciding whether to recommend you. A designated employer\u2019s offer does not automatically guarantee a recommendation or permanent residence.<\/p><h2><b>Rural Community Immigration Pilot Work Experience Requirements<\/b><\/h2><p>Applicants generally need at least 1,560 hours of related, paid work experience gained in the three years before applying. Unpaid internships, volunteering and self-employment do not count.<\/p><p>Your experience must match the relevant job duties and the permitted relationship with your job offer\u2019s TEER category. For a TEER 0 or 1 offer, qualifying experience can come from TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3. A TEER 2 offer allows qualifying experience from TEER 1, 2, 3 or 4.<\/p><p>If your offer is in TEER 3 or 4, qualifying experience can come from TEER 2, 3 or 4. If the offer falls under TEER 5, your experience must match the same five-digit NOC code.<\/p><p>IRCC also provides a specific exception allowing certain registered nurses to qualify with offers in designated support or care occupations.<\/p><p>Some international graduates from a public post-secondary institution in the recommending community can qualify without the work experience requirement. This exemption has conditions covering the credential, full-time study, graduation date and time spent in the community. Graduating somewhere in Canada does not automatically qualify you.<\/p><h2><b>Rural Community Immigration Pilot Language Requirements<\/b><\/h2><p>The minimum language level depends on the job offer\u2019s TEER category, and you must meet it in reading, writing, listening and speaking.<\/p><p>For job offers in TEER 0 or 1, you need at least CLB\/NCLC 6 in each ability. TEER 2 or 3 offers require at least CLB\/NCLC 5, while TEER 4 or 5 offers require at least CLB\/NCLC 4.<\/p><p>CLB measures English proficiency; NCLC is the French equivalent. Accepted<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadagmc.com\/language-tests-canada-immigration\/\"> <b>language tests for Canada immigration<\/b><\/a> for this pilot include IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General, PTE Core, TEF Canada and TCF Canada.<\/p><p>Your results must be less than two years old when you apply. Check the benchmark for each ability rather than relying on an overall test score.<\/p><h2><b>What Education Do You Need for the Rural Community Immigration Pilot?<\/b><\/h2><p>You need a qualifying Canadian educational credential or a foreign credential assessed as equivalent to at least a Canadian high school diploma.<\/p><p>For education completed outside Canada, an<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadagmc.com\/educational-credential-assessment-canada\/\"> <b>educational credential assessment<\/b><\/a> must come from an authorised organisation or professional body and be less than five years old when you apply.<\/p><p>An immigration assessment and permission to practise a regulated profession serve different purposes. If your job requires provincial licensing, check that separately before accepting the role.<\/p><h2><b>How Much Money Do You Need for the Rural Community Immigration Pilot?<\/b><\/h2><p>Unless you qualify for the exemption, you must show funds to support yourself and your family. IRCC\u2019s currently published RCIP figures, updated July 29, 2025, set the minimum at CAD 10,507 for one person, CAD 13,080 for two family members and CAD 16,080 for three.<\/p><p>For larger families, the minimum is CAD 19,524 for four members, CAD 22,143 for five, CAD 24,975 for six and CAD 27,806 for seven. Add CAD 2,831 for each additional family member beyond seven.<\/p><p>Include your spouse or common-law partner and dependent children when calculating family size, even if they will not accompany you. The money must be available when you apply and when IRCC issues your permanent resident visa, if approved.<\/p><p>You do not need<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadagmc.com\/proof-of-funds-canada-immigration-2026\/\"> <b>proof of funds<\/b><\/a> for this pilot if you are already working in Canada with a valid work permit. A job offer alone does not create that exemption.<\/p><p>Amounts can change. Check IRCC\u2019s RCIP settlement funds page before applying, and use the pilot\u2019s figures rather than the Express Entry funds table.<\/p><h2><b>What Happens After You Meet the RCIP Requirements?<\/b><\/h2><p>After receiving a community recommendation, you apply through IRCC\u2019s Permanent Residence Portal. Prepare your job offer and recommendation documents alongside evidence of work experience, education, language results, funds where required, and identity and family details.<\/p><p>The current federal economic immigration fee is CAD 1,590 per adult applicant, including the processing fee and right of permanent residence fee. An accompanying spouse or partner costs another CAD 1,590, and each dependent child costs CAD 270. Biometrics, medical examinations, tests and assessments can add separate costs. Check IRCC\u2019s fee list before paying.<\/p><p>Eligible RCIP applicants who have applied for permanent residence may also apply for a two-year employer-specific work permit. This requires a separate application and does not authorise work automatically.<\/p><h2><b>How Does RCIP Differ from the Francophone Pathways?<\/b><\/h2><p>RCIP accepts eligible English or French test results, with the required level depending on your job. The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadagmc.com\/francophone-community-immigration-pilot\/\"> <b>Francophone Community Immigration Pilot<\/b><\/a> is a separate permanent residence pilot aimed at French-speaking applicants settling in participating Francophone-minority communities.<\/p><p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadagmc.com\/francophone-mobility-work-permit\/\"> <b>Francophone Mobility work permit<\/b><\/a> is a temporary work option for eligible French-speaking workers outside Quebec. It is distinct from an RCIP permanent residence application.<\/p><p>Choose between these options by checking your language ability, employer, location and long-term plans.
